Breaking: Gunmen Kidnap PDP Chieftain In Benue State

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Benue state, Ben Akile, has been abducted by some unknown gunmen along the on Katsina-Ala road in the state.

Paul Unande, an eyewitness reported the development to journalists on Monday, September 23, the abductors kidnapped Ben Akile on his way from the Zakibiam area of the state, The Nation reports.

Unande said that the PDP chieftain was with one of his aides, and some members of the party in the state in a vehicle when the assailants carried out the attack and kidnapped him. It was gathered that the kidnappers robbed the victims of their cash and valuables before abducting Akile.

The regional reporter in Ibadan, Ridwan Kolawole, reported that the kidnap victims included the chairman of the Academic Staff of Polytechnics (ASUP), Opadijo Oluyide, the secretary of the union, Gbenga Alayande, and two other staff of the institution. It was gathered that Olujide, his scribe and two other staff of the institution along with the wife of one of the victims, were kidnapped while coming from a meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of unions in all the six tertiary institutions owned by the state, held at the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki.
