Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Hajia Hadiza Balarabe has been criticised for making a show of helping to put out a fire that engulfed the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Kawo in Kaduna on Friday.
Two dormitories – Nana House and Khadija House – were razed in the fire incident. All the student mattresses and provision stuff in the dormitories were said to have been burnt completely.
But in a video now circulating on social media, Balarabe can be seen carrying a bucket of water to help put out the raging fire while the fire service was allegedly being expected.
The deputy governor, who is decked in a white flowing gown, is surrounded by her security detail while some aides film her rushing to the scene.

However, some Nigerians who saw the video were unimpressed by her seeming show of concern.
According to those who commented, Balarabe’s action was a mere showmanship aimed at scoring cheap political points.
They said the deputy governor could have achieved more if she sat in her official vehicle and ordered her security detail to join in putting out the fire.

If not for stupid narrative and camera, a Nigerian politician would be carrying something that heavy while her orderlies would be walking majestically after her like that and none of them offered to help. This is dead on arrival!
